This is an oil painting on a custom-made canvas panel. It sits in a black pine floating frame. Felt pads have been placed on the back corners to protect your wall and D-rings and wire has been attached making ready to hang. This painting comes with its unique story and a certificate of authenticity.
“The Long Road Out” was inspired by photos of hiking trips up Mount Bogong way. There were beautiful Billy Buttons (Craspedia) dotted in the landscape that really caught my eye. They are also known as “drumsticks” and are in the daisy family. They are a beautiful native Australian plant with a beautiful buttery yellow glow which I have tried to capture in this painting. The colour yellow is often associated with fun, joy and energy … maybe that’s why I feel happy looking at them.
This painting tries to capture the utter peace you get when you sit in the middle of nature and take in the surrounds. It was painted during Melbourne’s 6th lockdown in 2021 and aims to bring hope to the time we can travel as far as we like, wherever we like.
