“Billy Button Field” is a textured oil painting on a custom-made wood panel. It is mounted on a pine backing frame and sits in a black pine floating frame. Felt pads have been placed on the back corners to protect your wall, and D-rings and wire attached, making it ready to hang on your wall.

In 2015, I sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury. Around a year later I started to paint as part of my rehabilitation. Painting initially helped to "unlock" my inner-self, thoughts and feelings that I found hard to express. Through continued recovery, painting has become a love and passion for me, I call it healing art.
“Billy Button Field” incorporates the natural grain of the wood panel as part of the meandering road through the countryside. This has been coated in clear gloss varnish so you can see the wood grain.
My paintings are inspired by the beauty of nature. In particular the calmness and freedom it often brings to my soul. I have a special love for Billy Buttons (Craspedia). They are also known as “drumsticks” and are in the daisy family. Billy Buttons are a beautiful native Australian plant with a gorgeous buttery yellow glow which I have tried to capture in this painting.
My paintings can be quite symbolic and in this it’s the colour yellow which is often associated with fun, joy and energy; and the path offering new hope and direction. I hope this painting brings you a sense of these feelings too!
