This is an oil painting triptych on a custom-made canvas panel. It sits in a Tasmanian Oak floating frame. Felt pads have been attached to the back corners to protect your wall. This was inspired by the many photos taken over the years of our hiking adventures in the high plains. My husband and I were so mesmerised by the beautiful billy buttons and other everlasting flowers that we have a section of our garden with flowers of the high plains. Billy Buttons (Craspedia) are also known as “drumsticks” and are in the daisy family. They are a beautiful native Australian plant with a beautiful buttery yellow glow which I have tried to capture in this painting. I also love the rolling plains and distant ranges of the high country.
The colour yellow is often associated with fun, joy and energy … maybe that’s why I feel happy looking at them. I hope this painting brings you a sense of these feelings too!
