I painted this after recovering from cancer related surgery and treatment. This was very much a time of contemplation – to sit, to gaze, to just be with my emotions. As I slowly started to paint again, I found peace and joy. My paintings are often symbolic. I feel that this tree is the symbolic me in quiet and deep contemplation amongst the warm comforting canola. Symbolically, this field is perhaps providing peace, joy and hope – something I think that is important to all of us through the more challenging times in our life.
