This is a view of the countryside with distant mountains, blue sky with a few clouds. In the foreground are trees incorporating the natural woodgrain of the wood panel looking over Australian native billy button flowers.
My paintings are inspired by the beauty of nature. This one incorporates some of the natural woodgrain in the trees in the foreground. These parts have been preserved in high gloss varnish. I have a particular love and fascination of Billy Buttons (Craspedia), also known as “drumsticks”. They and are in the daisy family and are a native Australian plant with a beautiful buttery yellow glow which I have tried to capture in this painting. They are spectacular when found amongst the rich green countryside. The colour yellow is often associated with fun, joy and energy … maybe that’s why I feel happy looking at them. I hope this painting brings you a sense of these feelings too!
