The focus of this painting is a Thozet’s Box Eucalyptus tree amongst dry but rich red/brown country-side of Trephina Gorge, Northern Territory.
This painting was inspired by my travels to Trephina Gorge in the East MacDonnell Ranges, Northern Territory. No matter where my travels take me, I am always fascinated by the beauty of trees. In particular I love their raw naked sculptural beauty. This one is a Thozet’s Box (Eucalyptus thozetiana). Studying the shapes of the branches, I can’t help but being absorbed by the moment. I guess that’s what mindfulness is in part about – to focus on the present – to check in and see how you feel. Being around these beauties reminds me about the unique qualities, like these trees, that we possess. This is my surreal interpretation of one of these picturesque trees and the surrounding area.
